Study leave. It sounds like a gift — no classes, no uniform, no early mornings. But let’s be honest: it can just as easily become a spiral of procrastination, pressure, and half-hearted highlighter use.

So what should it look like?

Nicola Doig, Repton Dubai’s Interim Head of Sixth Form and Head of Year 13, joined Helen Farmer on Dubai Eye 103.8’s Eye on Education to unpack the reality of study leave — what works, what doesn’t, and how students (and parents) can find some kind of balance.

It’s a refreshingly honest conversation, filled with practical insight and a few nostalgic laughs (including one very committed parent and a confiscated Sky TV card).

If you’re in the middle of study season, or parenting someone who is — take a few minutes and watch the full interview below.
