Art is more than a subject; it’s a way for children to connect, reflect, and learn. On a recent episode of Dubai Eye 103.8’s Eye on Education, Gareth Pyper, Head of Arts at Repton Dubai, shared his perspective on fostering a love of creativity both inside and outside the classroom.

Reflecting on the role of museums and galleries, Gareth emphasised that visits are most meaningful when linked to classroom learning, allowing students to understand the stories and context behind the artwork. He noted that institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi provide engaging programmes for young visitors, ensuring art is accessible and interactive.

As both an educator and a parent, Gareth encouraged families not to be deterred by isolated incidents in galleries, but instead to use visits as opportunities for discussion and discovery. He reminded parents that they don’t need to be art experts—simply talking with children about what they see and feel can spark a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
