Senior School

Message from Annette Drake

At Repton Dubai our vision ‘to be a world class school, committed to wellbeing, excellence and opportunity for all’, permeates all that we do. Excellent teaching and positive, nurturing relationships underpin our students’ ambition to achieve their academic aspirations as well as contributing meaningfully to their school community. This is evident in the numerous entrepreneurial endeavours and charity events planned, driven and delivered by our remarkable students.

Every day highly skilled staff are planning learning to meet the needs of all students, challenging and supporting where necessary in order to discover individual talents and unlock every child’s unique potential. This is apparent in our outstanding examination results, but a Repton education and our measure of success is much more than simply our academic outcomes.

We are immensely proud of the range of rich and memorable learning opportunities available to Reptonians beyond the classroom and how these experiences build character, confidence and forge memories that last a lifetime. Wellbeing underpins all that we do and we are proud that our students feel safe, happy and able to grow with us, emerging as erudite, socially adept and compassionate individuals prepared for an ever changing world.

It is an absolute privilege to work at Repton where tradition intersects with innovation, where we work in authentic partnership with our families and where young people genuinely thrive.

Academic Programme

At the Senior School, the academic programme is organised into three terms. In Years 7-9 (Grades 6-8), students are taught core subjects (Maths, English, Science) in ability groups and non-core subjects in mixed ability groups.

At the end of Year 9 (Grade 8), students choose their IGCSE options and follow these over a two-year period. At the end of Year 11, students are awarded their IGCSE certificates and are invited to join the Sixth Form to follow either the British Curriculum (A Level and BTEC) or our International Curriculum (IBDP) pathway.

British Curriculum (A Level and BTEC)

Advanced Levels (A Levels) are a set of academic qualifications widely recognised in the UK and many other countries around the world. At Repton Dubai, students typically choose three A Level subjects to study in-depth over a two-year period. The range of subjects is extensive and includes sciences, mathematics, languages, social sciences, and the arts.

Alongside our extensive range of A Level courses, Repton Dubai is excited to announce the introduction of further BTEC options in addition to the very successful Extended Diploma in Business. BTEC is a widely recognised and respected vocational qualification, providing practical and hands-on learning experiences for students.

As part of our British Curriculum pathway, students also have the option to study the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). This allows students to pursue an independent research project on a topic of their choice. This project can take various forms, including a written dissertation, an artifact, a performance or an academic report.

International Curriculum (IBDP)

Apart from the robust A Level and BTEC pathway, Repton also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The International Baccalaureate is intellectually rigorous, demanding that students not only attain high academic standards but also that students fully participate in out of class activities through the Creativity Activity Service (CAS) aspect of the Diploma. In addition, students study a course in the Theory of Knowledge [TOK] and complete a 4000-word Extended Essay. Through these courses pupils develop the knowledge of how to learn and positively challenge their perspectives of the world from a variety of differing viewpoints.
