As schools continue to adapt to changing routines, supporting children’s wellbeing remains just as important as academic learning. In a recent Eye on Education episode on Dubai Eye 103.8, host Helen Farmer spoke with Emma Reeves, Teacher at Repton Dubai, about how students are responding to the shift between classroom and online learning, and how parents can help children feel supported and confident during periods of change.

Emma highlighted the importance of routine, open communication, reading, hobbies, and social connection in helping children manage uncertainty and express their emotions. She also discussed the need to balance screen time with opportunities for creativity, movement, and meaningful family conversations, while recognising the strong role schools and teachers play in supporting student wellbeing.

The episode also featured an inspiring interview with Roger Xie Zi Hao, a talented Year 4 student at Repton Dubai whose passion for piano has already led to remarkable experiences, including meeting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum after writing a heartfelt letter thanking the UAE leadership for keeping communities safe during challenging times. Roger spoke about his dream of becoming a professional pianist and reflected on the UAE’s welcoming multicultural environment and the joy music brings to his life.

Together, the conversations offered reassuring advice for families while celebrating resilience, creativity, and the inspiring perspectives of young people.
