Urban Zen Charity Fashion Show for Dubai Autism Centre

Urban Zen Charity Fashion Show for Dubai Autism Centre

On Thursday 14th May, Donna Karan's charity fashion foundation, Urban Zen, in conjunction with designer Bonnie Young, showcased their new line of clothing at Repton School in Dubai.

47 students from Repton School aged between 4 and 8 took to the catwalk in front of a 300-strong crowd of parents, teachers and press from the fashion world. The Japanese-themed stage was a perfect setting for the event, enthralling the onlookers as designer Bonnie Young took to the stage after showcasing her latest designs.

Bonnie Young was the senior creative director at Donna Karan for nearly 15 years before she decided to devote her time and talent to creating her own children's lifestyle brand. The motivation for this bold move began during her search for a simple, yet refined, children's bed. Unable to find what she was looking for, she decided to design one herself. Young has created a collection for babies and children using the finest woven fabrics, cashmere and yarns.

The Bonnie Young collection displayed at Repton School was a mix of beautifully made timeless dresses for girls, classic cropped trousers and shirts for boys and casual ensembles for both.

The event marked the first of its kind in bringing a big-name fashion designer to a school in Dubai to raise money for charity.

After the show, clothing from the event was sold with part proceeds being donated to the Dubai Autism Centre and the Urban Zen Foundation, a public charity dedicated to promoting patient advocacy, empowering children and preserving cultures.
