French Trip Blog Part 6
Thursday, 28 May 2010: Today we went to the highest hill in Paris. It is a cathedral and is very beautiful. For some it was emotional but it took all our breaths away with the stunning views of Paris. Then we ate great crepes while buying last minute souvenirs. We then went to the raining Arc de Triomphe climbing all 284 steps or 50 meters in a record breaking 15 minutes. We also had time to walk up and down the wet Champs-Elysees and finished the day off with a steak.

The weather has finally reverted to the seasonal norm with clouds and rain. The Sacre-Coeur was still impressive but wandering round Montmartre was a little dampening. The local artists were out in force, nevertheless, but nobody had their portrait painted. It was really pouring down by the time we reached the Arc de Triomphe so we all got wet on the Champs-Elysees. The view from the top of the monument was amazing and we managed to spot the places we had visited during the week. Fatigue definitely set in today with several of the group flagging. However a coke and muffin refuel stop seemed to do the trick and everyone was boisterous during dinner.
We will be having a little celebration tomorrow morning followed by a French trip quiz, completion of journals and packing and tidying. This will be after a nice, well-earned lie-in. Due to land in Dubai 00.15. Hope the flight is on time.
