Head of Geography

Firstly, may I say how thrilled I am to be joining Repton School, Dubai, at such an exciting time and to be participating in the launch of the Senior School. I initially trained and taught English as a foreign language for seven years to students and business people from all over the world. I then did my postgraduate teacher training, in secondary Geography, ten years ago at Christ Church College in Canterbury. I worked initially at St Edmund’s Catholic School in Dover, teaching Geography up to A level. Here I also gained experience as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator and as Head of Geography. In my desire to broaden my professional and personal experiences, I looked abroad to the international sector. In August 2005, I relocated to Singapore with my wife and baby son.

As Head of Humanities at Chatsworth International School, I gained valuable experience in teaching Geography to IGCSE and IB Diploma level, attending IB teacher training courses in Melbourne, Australia. My fieldtrips to tropical islands in Malaysia, enabled my students to explore and experience amazing environments from the rainforests to the reefs, something I hope to expand upon at Repton.

Working in such a multicultural and racially diverse school environment, where students have a greater sense of living as part of a global community, is extremely interesting and rewarding. My wife and I will both be joining Repton along with our son Heath, who will join the Reception class. I’m looking forward to training and competing again in dragon boats, something I did in Singapore and will start again in Dubai. I also play golf and volleyball, which I hope to offer as an extra-curricular activity and maybe dragon boating also in the future.I greatly look forward to meeting and working with all the staff, students and parents of Repton, Dubai.
