Katie Wilson
Art Teacher
My name is Katie Wilson and I am a teacher of Art, Design and Photography here at Repton. In 2004 I completed a degree in Fine Art at Oxford University where I exhibited my own drawings, paintings and photographs at venues such as Modern Art Oxford, Christ Church Picture Gallery, and The Botanic Gardens. Since then I have immersed myself in the teaching and making of art. In 2005 I completed a PGCE in secondary art education at St. Martin’s College in Lancaster. I then moved to Borneo to teach for two years at Jerudong International School. In 2007 I returned home to the Lake District, UK to teach art and photography at both Austin Friar’s School and Windermere St. Anne’s School in Cumbria.
I love teaching art and I believe that the most important element of this is a personal enthusiasm for the subject. My job here at Repton is to inspire and to motivate students into learning about art, design and photography. Motivating children to make art into a realm that is distinctly their own is a challenge that I find very rewarding.
In my own time I paint large abstract works mostly with oils and spray paint. I love to take photographs and can be quite a camera nuisance when out and about with friends and family. I enjoy being outdoors doing things like camping, waterskiing and I try to see as much art and music as I can at exhibitions and venues across Dubai. I am very pleased to be here at Repton, I have been impressed so far with the art work the students have produced and I look forward to seeing what they are capable of in the near future.
