TESA Kicks Off New Term at Repton

Sporting academy capitalises on unique coaching programs led by international rugby and football stars

11 January 2010: The Transguard Elite Sporting Academy (TESA) is reaping the benefits of an open day, which took place recently. The open day was designed to allow boys and girls from all age groups to experience a day of football and rugby coaching with some of the games' biggest stars and enjoy the impressive sporting facilities at Repton School Dubai.

It was certainly a policy that paid off according to Mark Povey from the Transguard Group.

“The open day was a great way of getting aspiring youngsters to meet and train with our coaches, all of whom have played at the highest level. We have been inundated with applications, so they were obviously impressed with the day.”

Commenting on the professional standards achieved at the academy, Povey was quick to point out that the coaching sessions are arranged to suit all levels of ability.

“It is as much about improving fitness and building character as it is about producing future sporting stars. Only a small percentage of young hopefuls will make a living as a professional player, so it's important that we develop all students to realise their full potential in a positive manner. Naturally if we do spot exceptional ability we have the right connections, experience and track record to help nurture that talent all the way to the top.”

The Academy regularly sends its most talented youngsters for trials at professional clubs around the world and has at least two rugby and football tours a year to showcase its talent. The next rugby tour is to France where 50 of its youngsters will be playing at some of the country's best known clubs.
