Repton School National Day Celebration
Sunday 17th January 2010
The 2009 Repton School National Day was a celebration to remember. On November 25th, 2009, the staff and students of Repton put on a wonderful event for family and friends of the school.
The theme of the day was “Dubai: Present and Future”. The day began with the raising of the UAE National Flag and the singing of the UAE National Anthem. Hundreds of students formed a real life UAE flag and spelt out the words “Repton UAE” while thousands of balloons were released in the air and the national sky-diving team descended onto the Repton circle.
Nine Arabic Majilis tents were set up around the Repton Circle each with different displays and themes. The tents had various activities including falcons, henna painting, calligraphy, Arabic coffee tea and dates and various presentations from the Dubai Architectural Heritage Department and the Dubai Petroleum Company.
Children enjoyed the bouncy castles whilst parents were able to enjoy a buffet lunch with a delicious assortment of traditional Arabic food.
Repton’s Sixth Form class then made a presentation of what the UAE and National Day means to us all here at Repton School.
Feedback from the Repton parents was very positive.
