Safety and Risk Assessment
Safe Adventure Camps
The Outdoor Education Department only uses reputable Outdoor Adventure Companies to facilitate the Camps. All of the activities have to be operated in accordance with strict safety standards based on UK benchmarks that define the minimum requirements for staff qualifications, supervision arrangements, equipment, standard operating procedures, facilities and appropriate clothing.
Risk Assessments
Risk-Benefit management is a fundamental part of life and is a skill needed for young people’s safety and well-being. Staff have a duty of care towards young people. However, this certainly does not mean ‘wrapping them in cotton wool’. Therefore we have responsibility not only to keep young people safe, but also to enable them to learn to manage risks for themselves.
Risk management is all about identifying and managing any significant chance of harm. These processes and procedures are taught to pupils of all ages who attend the camps.
