Information and Communication Technology
ICT is taught with two periods in Year 7 to 9 and four periods in Year 10 and 11. Schemes of work in Key Stage 3 incorporate theory and practical skills that prepare pupils for the IGCSE. In the Sixth Form pupils have the option to study ITGS through the IB Diploma.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AT IGCSE
The aims of the curriculum are the same for all candidates. These are set out below and describe the educational purposes of a course in Information Technology for the IGCSE examination. They are not listed in order of priority.
The aims are to:
1. Help pupils to develop and consolidate their knowledge, skills and understanding in Information Technology;
2. Encourage pupils to develop further as autonomous users of Information Technology;
3. Encourage pupils to continue to develop their Information Technology skills in order to enhance their work in a variety of subject areas;
4. Provide opportunities for pupils to analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate Information Technology systems;
5. Encourage pupils to consider the impact of new technologies on methods of working in the outside world and on social, economic, ethical and moral issues;
6. Help pupils to grow in their awareness of the ways in which Information Technology is used in practical and work-related situations.
There will be no coursework in IGCSE Information Technology.
