Headmaster’s Message

Headmaster’s Message

Through-out my career, I have
advocated a ‘hands-on’ approach
to education, wanting to know all
parents and students alike.

From the day I was appointed Founding Head of Repton School in Dubai, now over three years ago, I have been aware of the weight of expectation surrounding this school in both Dubai and the wider Gulf region.

Turning these expectations into reality is a challenge that none of us involved in this most exciting of educational projects is taking lightly, or doubts that we are already meeting successfully.

Our stated goal is to create the Middle East’s leading international school, rooted in the many and varied strengths of our prestigious and historic partner school, Repton School in the United Kingdom.

This website will show you just what a very good school Repton in Dubai is already becoming and will also, we all hope, inspire you and your children to visit us in the first instance and then join us and help bring to fruition our dreams and aspirations for the school.

Repton School is located on a very large 1.3million sqft site in Nad al Sheba, and opened its doors in several stages: the Junior School, for 3 to 11 years olds started in September 2007, while the Senior School and our boys’ boarding facility followed a year later, in September 2008 and the Sixth Form opened in September 2009.

In September, 2010 we are proud to announe that we will be offering Girls Boarding.  The Girls' Boarding house will be in an entirely separate building to the boys' boarding.

Our intention is to provide continuity of education from nursery level to university entrance for both boys and girls, as we believe totally in the advantages of co-education in preparing our students to face confidently the many challenges they will encounter as adults in the 21st century.

At the very heart of Repton is our boarding facility, but, whether our students are boarding or day, boy or girl, young or older, our priority is to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment, where everybody can develop to the full their abilities and talents, and, possibly most important of all, enjoy whatever they are doing. There is already a genuine sense of community at the school. Parents are a crucial factor in developing this and everybody at the school desires an open and effective relationship. The school will seek to further this at every possible opportunity and here I am writing as both the Head and a parent of the school.

All of the details of the admissions procedure are contained on this website. Entrance to Repton is by testing, though great importance is also to be given to an interview, as we approach the admissions procedure with the firm belief that every potential student has something to offer. Once a student enters the school, the aim for all the teaching and non-academic staff is to provide every opportunity for individual academic and extra-curricular success.

Throughout my career, I have advocated a ‘hands-on’ approach to education, wanting to know all parents and students alike, whether directly through the classroom and boarding houses or by supporting the wide variety of extra-curricular activities which we will offer at the school. There will always be a warm welcome for you at Repton. No website, however innovative, can ever convey fully the essence of a school, so please do come and see me, and I can tell you more about this exciting educational opportunity for Dubai, the Gulf region and, most important, you and your children.
