Junior sports

We pride ourselves in fostering the pursuit of excellence in a sport-for-all environment. Today the school supports boys’ and girls’ in over 10 sports.

The core sports are Football, Rugby, Netball, Cricket, Rounders Basketball and Swimming. The school has a proud record of achievement in all of these sports and we believe this is partly due to the quality of our coaching and our facilities, and also because of the encouragement boys’ and girls’ of all abilities are given to participate.

As well as striving to achieve excellence, we also believe in teaching an understanding of the role of sport and physical activity in achieving an active and healthy lifestyle. The school year allows the pupils to experience a range of other sports and the pupils are encouraged to be actively involved in many of these to help find their interests and talents.

Inter-house

Pupils in Repton Junior are allocated a house upon arrival. Allegiance and loyalty to one’s house are a strong feature to life at Repton and this is, perhaps, most evident at the various sporting inter-house events which take place regularly throughout the year. Results from inter-house sporting events are collected and collated to help overall house results at the end of term and year.

World Cups

Repton Junior prides itself of being inclusive, offering opportunity and follow the idea of sport for all. The PE Department offer once a term tournaments, following a World Cup theme.

Pupils compete for the World Cup in an afternoon tournament where teams put their lessons in to practise and demonstrate teamwork, skill and passion for their allocated country

Swimming

As part of the Physical Education programme all pupils take part in swimming lessons. We see swimming as a life skill and by the end of every school year we ensure every pupil can swim.

The school has a brand new state of the art swimming facility comprising of an eight lane 25m outdoor pool and a small teaching and learning pool for the younger age groups. We also have an indoor six lane 25 yard pool. These are the most used facilities on the campus.
